Bernard Barton was a noted magazine and advertising illustrator.

Barton began his career after leaving his poster art duties for the Army Signal Corps at the end of World War II. His first paperback covers were for Bantam, in 1948 and 1949. Ben Stahl (September 7, 1910 - October 19, 1987) was an American artist, illustrator and author. He showed precocious talent, winning a scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago at age twelve. Arthur Sussman was born in Brooklyn, NY and completed his BFA at Syracuse University. After graduation, he worked in NYC for more than 10 years as a designer and illustrator. At the same time, he studied painting at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

This is probably a nice mystery to uncover: Ann Cantor was an illustrator for Avon Books when Avon Books was not yet the synomimous for romance. What probably attracted me to this cover artist was the romantic and classy women in an era when big boobs and naked flesh was a must. Al Rossi was a prolific book and magazine illustrator during the 1940s to 1960s. He was the original cover artist of Junkie, the novel William Burroughs published under the pen-name of William Lee. He was also one of the main cover artist for Beacon.
